Where to go to find good news?

I don’t usually read the news. Of course, there is no protection from bad stuff that is happening every day but I prefer to read something that makes me feel better. Once in a while I stumble upon some links, and I click on them and read… Today it was a page about a little girl who died in a daycare on my birthday. I can’t imagine how her parents feel…

I finished reading “The Forty Rules of Love” ┬áby Elif Shafak, and I’m still living in this book even though it is already resting on one of the shelves in the library. After I read the news about that little girl I immediately remembered one of the rules from the book:

“Rule #39: While the parts change, the whole always remains the same. For every thief who departs this world, a new one is born, And every decent person who passes away is replaced by a new one. In this way not only does nothing remain the same but also nothing ever really changes.”

I never wrote a review about a book that I was enjoying so much. I was always afraid that I won’t be able to say anything that will even remotely describe my views, emotions and impressions. So I am taking a step forward and writing about a wonderful book – “The Forty Rules of Love” by Elif Shafak. This book just asked me to pick it up from the shelf in my local library. When I looked at the cover all I saw was “A novel of Rumi” and by then I already knew I will borrow this book and I will enjoy it. I believe in signs. After reading “The Alchemist” by Coelho I began to see the signs around me. At some point the signs disappeared which meant that I was too busy looking somewhere else. A few years ago Rumi and his poetry saved me during my sad days of realizing that my marriage is no more. And now holding this book in my hands tells me that I found a friend who will guide me again, and this friend is Rumi with his wisdom. Even though “The Forty Rules of Love” is a fruit of fiction it is a remarkable piece of work. Reading it makes me feel that I am being myself again.
